A Hindu clergyman made history Thursday by offering the Senate’s morning prayer, but only after police officers removed three shouting protesters from the visitors’ gallery.
Rajan Zed, director of interfaith relations at a Hindu temple in Reno, Nev., gave the brief prayer that opens each day’s Senate session. As he stood at the chamber’s podium in a bright orange and burgundy robe, two women and a man began shouting ”this is an abomination” and other complaints from the gallery. [NYT]
They shouted “No Lord but Jesus Christ” and “There’s only one true God,” and used the term “abomination.”
Perez Hilton is an American celebrity gossip blogger, according to whom, India is still ruled by King and Queen. This was referenced in his gossip story about an Indian Prince who came out of closet.
Say hello to Manvendra Singh Gohl, the only son of the King and Queen of India. And he’s gay! The Prince is the first openly gay Indian royal.
As Sonia Falerio correctly pointed out in her post “Proving again that too many Americans know nothing about the world, and want to keep it that way.”
Now like all of you, I never heard about this guy. So after little search, I found that Manvendra Singh Gohl is a Prince from Rajpipla, India. Did I say Rajpipla. Never heard of this place before. So much for only son of King and Queen of India.
Of course we cannot expect much from Perez Hilton whose posts are irreverent, tongue-in-cheek and sometimes even cruel slant. But least he can do before posting celebrity gossip is to make sure that the person in question is really a celebrity.
Speaking about gays in India, it’s really sad to hear about The Matunga Racket
